About us

The 'Kazaura' affix was granted to myself (Karen Courtney) in 2002,

but my love for the German Shepherd Dog began many years before that in 1989 when I brought my first GSD's -'Wish' and 'Leyla'.

My children Laura & James, have grown up with our dogs and as a family we share our life and our home with German Shepherds, Shetland Sheepdogs and a Tiffanie Cat.

'Kazaura' is not a kennel but a family who love and admire the beauty and intelligence of these magnificant breeds. We do not breed from or show all of our dogs, together we enjoy showing, obedience, country walks, lots of fun and of course plenty of love and cuddles.

James is our resident entertainer, he loves playing with our dogs and puppies, teaching them to be great football goalies and he is often found asleep on the sofa with the dogs...who are not supposed to get on the sofa!

From a young age Laura has shown an avid interest in the training, grooming, showing and the breeding of our dogs, as well as all the mucky jobs that go with dog ownership.

As our 'Kazaura' affix already stems from both mine and Laura's name, -

'Kaz' from Karen and 'aura' from Laura, it seemed only right that our affix was transfered into joint names. This was done early in 2008 and our Shelties are jointly owned by myself and Laura under the 'Kazaura' affix.

Laura and myself have always enjoyed training our dogs at local dog training clubs, but in 2001

I decided to take it a step further and completed a training instructors course.

I then started instructing at a local dog club and have instructed in obedience classes as well as assisted in agility and flyball.

Both myself and Laura now help at a training club which is based at the

"Sports Connextion" in Ryton-On-Dunsmore near Coventry.

The club 'Shires K9 Club', aims to provide socialisation for all breeds of all ages along with basic obedience and ringcraft. Please see my links page for the link to 'Shires K9 Club'.

Here at 'Kazaura' we sometimes have puppies available to suitable homes.

We spend many hours playing and interacting with them to ensure that they go to their new home fully socialised to family life and all the noise & chaos that goes with it.

All our dogs are fed on a diet consisting mainly of raw food, our puppies are also weaned on

the same diet. See our feeding page for more details.

Kennel Club Registered, BVA Hip Scored and DNA Profiled

Over the years I have made many good friends through the dog world and I would like

to thank you all for your friendship and support.
